The Mayor of Bridlington for the Mayoral Year 2017-2018 is Councillor Cyril Marsburg.

Born in London to a military family, educated in Germany, Egypt and various parts of the UK. First family to arrive in Germany after the war prior to the blockade of Berlin by the Russians (pathe news).  Caught up in the riots in the Suez Canal during the over throw of king Feruke, mother and I were under siege for two days in the black arrashere quarter of Ismalia.

Served five years in the RAF situated at various bases in the UK, Cinema manager stationed in the Shetlands and station photographer.  Was the Queens Equery between the islands, responsible for the Queens Royal Standard prior to her visit.

Came to Bridlington in the 1960s as an out of work ex serviceman, employed as a storeman with Bridlington Relay/Red Arrow then Granada TV Rentals went on to be Regional District Operations Manager in the whole of Scotland responsible for 13 show rooms and over 200 staff.  Came back to Bridlington self employed as a hotelier and builder (Marsburg Associates) for over 20 years.  Was the manager of a residential home for the mentally disordered then changed to a Residential Alcohol Dependency Unit, serving the whole of the East Riding.

Involved with Local Politics for over 25 years Former East Yorkshire Borough Councillor, 5 years Harbour Commissioner, made an Honorary Alderman, did a 10,000ft parachute jump for the Mayor Charity.  At present the Principle of The Haven Residential Alcohol Dependency Unit. Awarded The ”Chairman’s Award” for enhancing the social well being of The East Riding. Currently in fourth term as Town Councillor, Deputy Mayor 2005.
